Cross-Border Markets: Evaluating the Effect of U.S. Domestic Content Requirements on the U.S.-Canada Economic Partnership (2017)

In a new report prepared for the Embassy of Canada, The Trade Partnership examines the effects of U.S. domestic content requirements on the U.S.-Canada economic partnership. Based on interviews with officials at companies and agencies where such requirements do or could shape purchasing decisions, the study finds rules can negatively impact U.S. jobs and competitiveness while also raising prices. Furthermore, any new policies that might prevent companies from sourcing from Canada could disrupt existing supply chains and harm many U.S. businesses.
